At the conference various international companies had signed a charter regarding sustainable transport. It was also stressed the need of undertaking strict measures to tackle the problem pertaining to spread of pollution through transport and to check the harmful effects on the health of the people. Noman Saigal pointed out that the developed countries had been taking successful measures for containing the environmental pollution and that the developing states could also benefit from their experiences in that respect.
He said the environment was being given priority all over the world and if they also worked in that very spirit then their cities could be as neat and clean as Dubai and Abu Dhabi were.
The Adviser urged the officials of the department to work in collaboration with the private sector for the betterment of the environmental conditions.
He was of the view that assistance could also be sought of the foreign experts for the resolution of the problems in that very respect.
Noman Saigal also called for chalking out a comprehensive programme for tackling the pollution spread through transport in the province.
He said the help of World Health Organisation would be sought for the road safety programme.
The Adviser urged the officials to run the department on professional lines and performance report be presented on daily basis.
He also asked the federal government to promptly finalise the projects of Sindh that were with it so that those be implemented and the people of the province could benefit from those.
